Programs needed to create and modify YSflight 3D objects.

Gepoly, Gepolyx
surfview, surfviewO

The basic SRF model editing and preview programs provided by Mr. Soji Yamakawa.

How to get it:
Goto the official YSflight site, and on the navigation bar on the left look for "3D Graphics SDK Blue Impulse", then scroll almost all the way down to the bottom. Download the files winutill.zip and winutil2.zip. Winutil contains the surfview programs and winutil2 contains the 2 gepolys.

7 May 2010 edit: Soji released an updated version of gepolyx here.

DNMViewer
GepolyO

DNMviewer is used to edit and preview DNM files.
GepolyO is an advanced version of Gepoly (see above) with support for newer YSflight features such as transparency, 24bit color code, and OpenGL preview.

How to get it:
Goto Mozo's Site. This is a Japanese site, but don't panic. The latest version is called the "Test Version", which only means there are a couple of functions not implemented yet, otherwise it is a stable program. Right on the front page of Mozo's site you might see a link with the numbers 2 and 27 in there. This is the download link for a file called gepolytest.zip and that's what you want.

SUZY tools

A series of drag-and-drop tools for modifying SRF files. You run it and it stays on the desktop. You then drag the SRF file from windows explorer onto the program and it will generate a new file based on the modification that you want.

How to get it:
Goto BD factory and use the first link "Suzy's tool box". This will bring you to the download page.

Perl Scripts: DNMbuilder et al.

There are a series of PERL scripts developed that perform a lot of SRF transformation process like the SUZY tools above. DNMbuilder is similar to DNMviewer above that lets you edit DNM files, but without preview. However from within DNMbuilder you launch the other PERL scripts to modify any of the DNM file's component SRF files.

How to get it:
On Club Raptor site. The second link on the navigation bar on the left side of the site will bring you to the DL page. Just scroll down a bit and you'll find all the scripts.

To run PERL scripts you can install Active PERL from the ActiveState website. As of 30 August 2008, the current version of Active PERL is 5.10 although older versions 5.6 or 5.8 will also work.

Please note that if you do use Active PERL version 5.10, there is an extra step required to make it compatible with the scripts. Once you installed v5.10, open a command prompt window and enter this command:

ppm install tk

It will then automatically download and install a new module for ActivePERL to make it compatible with the scripts.

Alternatively, if you are not familiar with using the command prompt, you can download this file:

http://raptor.ddo.jp/asameshi/install_tk.zip

and run the batch file inside. It performs the same function as the above command.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Some of the perl scripts requires a module called surfdata.pm to function properly, so make sure you also download surfdata (available from the same page as the rest of the scripts), and put it in the same folder as you put the rest of the perl scripts.

YSVRML 2.0

Userful utility that converts VRML files in to SRF files

How to get it:
Goto the official YSflight site, and on the navigation bar on the left look for "Other Freesoftware". The 3rd item is YSVRML 2.0

Soji re-compiled gepolyx with visual C++ 2008 and the new version is much more stable now. I can even use it extensively to modify polygon normals and it won't crash. I've updated the main post to show the download link.
