So far, I'm Impressed with Windows 7. Despite it saying that it needs a minimum of 1Ghz of RAM I was able to load it on to my secondary PC that only has 512MB of ram. It runs fine, and is actually comparable to Win XP, if not faster in some instances.
Definitely recommended.

As for my stats;

AMD Athlon 64 x2 5200+
3gHz of DDR2 (677) Memory.
250GB Hard drive.
Nvidia 8600GT (1GB of VRAM)
Vista Ultimate.

Secondary PC? Do you mean 2 OS on a same computer or in different computer? I might consider go for Seven RC if I don't have to reformat my computer.

My computer is fairly new. To me, it's the top of the line system for gaming. Saved for a few years.

lol, Vista's not bad, I haven't had a single issue with my Vista 64 bit so far, I still will purchase Windows 7 anyways, it's sad though that Gate's isn't the king of Microsoft anymore, then again he's working on even bigger things now i.e. a Hurricane shield.

After all this time I see that maybe I should have been playing better games instead of YsFlight and Falcon 4.0. I tried MS X and I was able to run everything on full, including traffic. But, my interests are in Falcon and YsFlight. So here I stay with a overkill system.

Same thing here, although not a top notch machine but still capable of running fs9 in maximum setting. YS is simply something different.

I'm using 2 computers running Vista Home Basic and Starter respectively, I have trouble with both of them. I won't say XP is a better OS though.

Postby PatrickN on Tue Feb 09, 2010 3:13 am

I was going to start a topic, but I figured since this one existed and is directly related to what I was going to post, I might as well revive it.

My specs: HP Pavilion a6813w-b
Vista 64-bit SP2, 5GB RAM, Pentium Dual @ 2.4GHz, Intel graphics media accelerator 3100 @128MB integrated Graphics Memory

I have a question, though. I see NFS:WO has a requirement for 64MB and requires "NVIDIA GeForce3 / NVIDIA GeForce4 (Ti series only) / ATI Radeon 8500". I have 128MB, which is more memory, but it isn't Nvidia- or ATI-based. Do any of you computer people know if what I have will work? You guys probably know I know about as much about computers as aviation, which isn't much. I know how to install cards, but I fear voiding warranties and burning out the power supply.

I play fs2004 with everything on full except for the simple-level clouds and get 20-35 fps.

Just received a major upgrade today :D :

Former emachines desktop, now an AMD machine.
1024 X 768 display setting
Windows XP Home Edition
AMD Athlon 64 Dual Core X2, 2.5 GHz
Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 with DDR5 (replacing an X1200-uh yeah, bye bye!)
100GB hard drive
3 GB RAM
DVD ROM/CD-RW drive

I can now run YSFS replays with 20+ aircraft and solid cloud and ground textures on, without framerate disruption. :D
