Installing Aircraft: The Easy Way.

The first thing you need when installing new packs is a program used to decompress files. You can find links to three such utilities at the bottom of this page.
First take the file and extract it.
Next, find a file in the folder you just extracted it to named air<something>.lst. The file will always start with "air" and always end with ".lst". This file tells ysflight where to find planes, and should always be placed in the "aircraft" folder in your ysflight directory. To find out where to install the rest of the files you will need to open the .lst file and look at what is in it. Double click on the file, and tell it to open in Wordpad.
Here is an example:
The first line of the .lst file might look like this:
| Code: | | User/Kzs/aircraft/f16xl_kz.dat User/Kzs/aircraft/f16xl_kz.dnm User/Kzs/aircraft/f16xl_kz_coll.srf User/Kzs/aircraft/f16xl_kz_cockpit.srf User/Kzs/aircraft/f16xl_kz_coarse.dnm |
In this case, the files all need to be installed in "C:\Program Files\YSFLIGHT.COM\YSFLIGHT\User\Kzs\aircraft\".
In most cases you will not have to make any new folders because the file system will already be created in the file you downloaded. Just drag the folders it says it needs from the pack folder to your ysflight folder.
If you can not find a .lst file, then you may need to make one yourself. First look for a readme file in the pack folder. When you find it, look for lines that resemble this:
| Code: | | User/Kzs/aircraft/f16xl_kz.dat User/Kzs/aircraft/f16xl_kz.dnm User/Kzs/aircraft/f16xl_kz_coll.srf User/Kzs/aircraft/f16xl_kz_cockpit.srf User/Kzs/aircraft/f16xl_kz_coarse.dnm |
Select all of these lines and hit copy.
Next make a new text file in the "aircraft" folder in your ysflight directory. Open the new file and paste the lines into it. Save the file and close it. Next take the text file and rename it air<something>.lst.
Follow the instructions above to install the files, and you are good to go.
